Get your sexy look on with naturally straight hair! While most beauty salons offer quick yet expensive ways to straighten your hair, there are better ways to do it yourself! These do-it-yourself steps are easy and free. You will have straight hair naturally in no time. All you need is some affordable hair products and additional natural ingredients you most likely have already in your kitchen. We promise you no chemicals, no steaming, and no damage to your precious hair. As you’re all set, let’s get “straight” to it then!
1. Rinse your hair with cold water
A long, hot shower is nice and proven to be therapeutic. However, if you want to have more natural straight hair, you need to make a little sacrifice. Rinsing your hair with cold water instead of hot helps it stay neat and straight. You can still enjoy your hot shower, though. Take as long as you need it. But when it comes to rinsing your hair, turn it down and switch to cold water. If you can’t stand the cold, you can also use the sink.
2. Use comb instead of brush on your wet or moisturized hair
Big classic hairbrush does do its job quickly. However, this type of brush is not suitable for frizzy hair. And it’s certainly not helping your cause in straightening your hair naturally. Switch to a wide-tooth comb. It does take more time to comb instead of to brush your hair. But the result awaits will be worth it!
3. Roll your hair up after a shower
Blowing hot air into your hair makes it easier to get frizzy. So, if you’re not in a rush, let your hair dry naturally after a shower. Better yet, roll your hair while it is still wet. Divide your hair into several layers. Then, roll each layer up and wait until your hair dries naturally. Using the right size of rollers is crucial, though. The bigger, the better! We recommend using large rollers with the same diameter as a regular can soup.
4. Hydrate and moisturize your hair with a leave-in conditioner
For naturally straight hair, just shampoo is not enough. On your next grocery run, don’t forget to get a hair conditioner as well. Not just any conditioner, though! Get leave-in conditioner specially made for your type of hair. The Leave-in conditioner does not require rinsing. After shampooing, rinse your hair clean and leave it half dry. Apply leave-in conditioner thoroughly. Then, wait for it to do its magic. Well-hydrated hair will not get frizzy easily. See the real difference in two weeks of daily moisturizing!
5. Keep brushing your hair until it dries
Simpler yet with a little more effort, this is something you can do right now, after you take a shower, of course. While your hair is still wet, keep combing it until it dries out. This will stop your hair from frizzing up as it dries out. Since this will take some time, we recommend you do it while watching a movie or catching up with the latest series online.
6. Wrap your wet hair tightly and let it dry
If brushing continuously sounds too tedious, we have something else for you. All you have to do is wrap your wet hair with a towel and let it dry naturally. What makes this different from the usual business is adding a little more tightness to the wrapping. Make sure they’re nice and tight!
7. Twist your wet hair into a bun
Carrying a towel on top of your hair half a day long can be restricting. And not all towels can wrap as tight as you would like for a long time. When you are facing this issue, you might want to switch to this trick instead. All you need is some scrunches. Depending on your hair length, you may need a couple or a dozen of them. While your hair is still wet, pull it up into a high ponytail. Then, tie it all the way down with scrunches. Leave around 2-3 centimeters of gaps between each scrunch. The last thing, twist your scrunched ponytail into a bun and leave them on until dry. Sounds doable?
8. Wrap your hair with a silk scarf overnight
If you don’t have time to do any of these tricks during the day, you can also do it at night. This way, you can leave your hair drying up while you sleep. None of your daily routines will be affected! Since you will be moving around in your sleep, we don’t suggest wrapping your wet hair with a towel. Instead, try using a scarf. A silk scarf will be perfect. But if you don’t have any, you can replace it with any soft fabric. This is important to keep your hair from frizzing up. Use bobby pins to keep the wrapping on and your hair straight. Don’t forget to brush your hair first before wrapping!
9. Coconut milk cream bath, twice a week
The last two tips are our personal favorites! Give yourself a hair spa treatment at home with the following ingredients: 1 cup of coconut milk, 5 tablespoons of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch. Mix all the ingredients and apply them on your hair, either wet or dry. We recommend you to wash your hair first before the treatment. But if you don’t have time, you can skip it. Do not use skimmed coconut milk. You need the fat to help moisturize your hair. In fact, the fatter, the better! Leave the mix on your hair for 30 minutes before rinsing it clean with cold water.
If you are missing some ingredients, you can try another mix easier to find: 2 cups of milk and 1 egg. Instead of applying, you need to soak your hair in the mix. Wait 10 minutes, and then wrap your hair with a plastic cover or a shower cap. Leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it clean. Remember not to blow dry your hair afterward. Natural drying is the best for naturally straight hair!
10. Use sweet almond and coconut oil as the hair vitamin
Do not spend extra hundreds of dollars on more hair products. Use sweet almond oil or coconut oil instead. These two things are great natural hair vitamins. Apply them on your dry hair at any time, any day!
Conclusion
It does take some effort and time to finally have straight hair naturally. But once you have it, you will enjoy every moment of it! Before you try any of these tips, remember some of the fundamental rules:
· Heat does not help. Blow drying and steaming are common in salons. But doing these too often will damage your hair eventually, especially when you don’t have the expensive hair products salons use.
· Everything natural is good. Always pick natural ingredients for your DYI hair spa mix.
· Use a wide-tooth comb and large rollers. The bigger the gaps, the better!
